Forma Steel was Founded
After the success of Structural Truss Systems in 1980, founder Frans Feyter saw a growing demand for steel roofing & siding. This discovery lead to the creation of sister company Forma Steel in the fall of 1992.
Construction of the 12th Street Facility
With growing success, we outgrew our space on 23rd street and started construction on a new facility on 12th street here in Fort Macleod. Soon to be the home of both companies.
Moved to New Facility on 12th Street
Now with both companies under one roof, we were able to meet growing demands for steel products with continued growth into shared ventures and new markets.
Introduction of the FC-36 Panel
In comes the FC-36 panel which remains one of our most popular panels to this day. At this time, we had 7 total employees.
Introduction of Our FormaLoc Panel
In comes the FormaLoc standing seam panel system. Offering easy installation for roofers & DIY homeowners alike. This panel remains a great choice for residential & commercial roofing applications.
Moved Trim Shop to New Building
With the increased growth in production & the addition of new machines came the need for a new build to house our trim shop operations.
Expansion into Lethbridge
2017 was a big year for expansion. Following the growth of our trim shop, we opened our first shop in Lethbridge.
Introduction of Forma Plank & Specialty Steel
Forma Plank was the first panel in our line of modern cladding panels now called "The Cladding Series." This plank style panel also marked the beginning of our Specialty Steel offerings including Espresso & Barnboard Woodgrain.
Introduction of 7/8" Corrugated Panels
Our high-strength 7/8" Corrugated panels are highly adaptable and remain a popular choice for all kinds of applications from commercial, residential, to industrial.
Introduction of the Elevate Series
This year marked the beginning of our Elevate Series, a line of hidden fastener panels. We developed a number of panels this year including; FormaLoc, InterLoc, ClipLoc, Nail Strip, and Mechanical Loc.
Reached 70 Employees
In nearly 10 years, our company went from 7 employees to 70. Increasing our production capabilities and the growth of our sales team.
Announcement of New Large-Scale Manufacturing Facility
In November, we announced the construction of our new large-scale truss & metal fabrication facility in Fort Macleod. With expectations to double production capabilities and office space as well as expand on logistics capacity.
Grand Opening of New Lethbridge Shop
In the fall of 2024, we opened our newest shop in Lethbridge giving us the ability to provide faster turnaround times for our customers and a full showroom to view our products.
Moved to New Large-Scale Facility
In the summer of 2025, we moved our Forma Steel operations into our new shared facility equipped with 90,000 square feet of production space for both operations along with 25,000 square feet of office space.
