A Monumental Feat of Rural Construction

2025 started off with a bang when Diamond City Equestrian contacted Southridge Construction about a massive undertaking, the largest riding arena in all of Western Canada. Southridge knew a project of this scope needed Forma Steel (and our sister company, Structural Truss). After Structural Truss delivered hundreds of clear span roof trusses (a record-breaking length of 124 feet each), Southridge quickly put the frame of the building together, and were then ready for the metal roofing and siding applications.

Built to Withstand All the Elements

For the exteriors, Forma Steel supplied 617 standard trim lengths and 126 XL trim lengths. The roof itself used 13,401 lnft of 26 gauge FR Panels in Carbon, while the siding used 4861 lnft of 29 gauge FC36 in Bright White. There was also 29 gauge FC36 Carbon wainscotting running along the bottom of the entire building. FR and FC36 are among our strongest and most durable roll formed panels, ideal for the harsh weather conditions that often occur in the rural Lethbridge area.

Cladding Series Combined with Roll Formed Metal

To add a unique visual feature, cupola’s were installed on the roof. These used one of our signature cladding panels, Shiplap, for the sides in our Bright White standard colour, and Copper Penny FC-36 for the triangular roofs.

Dynamic Interiors to Match the Exteriors

The interior of the building also utilizes Forma Streel product, with FC36 in Bright White running alongside half the walls and all across the roof, providing a clean and modern look that perfectly juxtaposes the rustic arena itself.

A Truly Stunning Achievement!

The final result is a sight to behold as the arena can be seen as you drive along the highway. Forma Steel is extremely proud of how this project came together and we look forward to seeing it remain a focal point for Diamond City for years to come!
